A Whiskey Cup with a Story

Crafted from the same Kansas clay that helped build the Panama Canal and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Today, that clay is shaped by hand into small-batch whiskey cups designed for slow evenings and good bourbon.

Clay That Helped Build History

For more than a century, the clay beneath Bourbon County, Kansas, quietly helped build the modern world.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the region became known for producing some of the strongest brick in America. That clay helped construct projects that would become world landmarks — including portions of the Panama Canal and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Today, that same historic clay is still here.

At Bourbon County Clay, we use locally sourced clay from this region to create handcrafted drinkware designed for everyday use.

Each piece carries a connection to the land and the history beneath it.

Because when you hold a Bourbon County Clay cup, you're holding more than pottery.

You're holding a piece of American heritage.

Handcrafted in Small Batches

Every Bourbon County Clay whiskey cup is shaped by hand.

The clay is thrown on the wheel, carefully dried, glazed, and fired in the kiln to create a durable, functional piece designed to last for years.

No molds.

No mass production.

Because each cup is handmade, subtle variations in form and glaze are part of what make every piece unique.

Small batch production also means quantities are limited.

When a run sells out, it may not return.

Designed for the Evening Pour

Great bourbon deserves more than a mass-produced glass.

A ceramic whiskey cup changes the experience.

The weight of the clay in your hand.
The natural warmth of the material.
The subtle earthiness that pairs perfectly with the complexity of whiskey.

This is a cup made for slow evenings, thoughtful pours, and good conversation.

Limited Runs

Because every piece is made by hand, production is intentionally limited.

Some runs contain only a small number of pieces.

When they sell out, it may be months before another batch becomes available.

If you see a piece you love, it’s best to claim it while it’s still available.
